Telestream Releases Wirecast 4.3

Telestream, the provider of digital media tools and workflow solutions, announced the release of Wirecast 4.3 live streaming production software. This free update adds a new live thumbnail feature for real-time monitoring of all live sources. Wirecast 4.3 also adds a countdown clock for managing recorded video within a broadcast, as well as new integration with Teradek for more flexible live streaming options.

The new live thumbnail feature in Wirecast 4.3 enables real-time monitoring of all live source shots in the shot window. This allows users to see exactly what’s happening on each live input at any point in time, making the process of switching between multiple live cameras faster and more manageable. Wirecast 4.3 now displays a countdown clock whenever an imported video clip is playing, showing the time remaining before the video clip ends. This enables users more precise information to prepare for upcoming switches.

The addition of an innovative new plugin, developed by Teradek for Wirecast Pro enables flexible and economical live streaming options for easier capture of remote sources and more scalable publishing of local sources. The integration with Teradek Cube also supports UDP Multicasting, providing a one-to-many distribution solution without bogging down the network. This is ideal for live events where multiple parties want to tap into one video source for multiple distributions to their own channels.

Rhino Camera Gear Battery Holster available for pre-order

Rhino Camera Gear has its Battery Holster available for pre-order. RCG created a hard shell holster that holds two Canon LP-E6 batteries or two Sony batteries (Alpha type). An integrated belt clip allows you to attach it on to your pants, backpacks, and camera straps. The holster costs 19.25 EUR a piece. Battery Holsters are compatible with Black Rapid straps. The belt clip on a Battery Holster is wide enough to attach to all of their straps securely. Equipped with a 1/4-20 brass insert in the rear of the belt clip, you can attach the optional Black Rapid carabiner and clip it on to virtually anything. Battery Holsters will work with any camera that takes a LP-E6 battery. These include the Canon 5D Mark II, 5D Mark III, 7D, 6D, & 60D.

Atomos announces two new products

Atomos announces Samurai Blade and two new Connect converters, Connect AC H2S and Connect AC S2H, at NAB 2013, (8-11 April, Las Vegas Convention Center, booth number C8218).

Blade introduces the SuperAtom IPS screen — super sharp, super bright, super blacks, at 325 dpi and a million pixels. With full waveform functionality, the Blade is a monitor that records and a recorder that truly monitors. Powered by AtomOS 5 (only available for the Samurai Blade), this 1280 x 720 5inch touchscreen gives the Blade gamma, brightness and contrast control, as well as vectorscope and RGB/luma parade features. Samurai Blade will ship in May 2013 with an MSRP of $1,295, excluding sales tax.

The two new converters are AC-powered, fixed facility counterparts of the recently introduced Connect converters. Connect-AC converters are powered by a standard figure-of-8 cable. At $295 each, both converters include test pattern generation and audio test tone and are even rack-mountable, making them the most affordable and functional HDMI/HD-SDI converters available on the market today.

Red Giant BulletProof

Red Giant will unveil BulletProof, a new software application for on-set footage handling, at NAB 2013 in Las Vegas. Designed for filmmakers, videographers and data wranglers, BulletProof bridges the gap between camera and editor. Full details will be revealed at the show (Booth #SL3728). By the looks of it, BulletProof will offer an offload/backup feature much like what we now have with ImagineProducts' ShotPut Pro. Let's hope Red Giant wraps this functionality into a nicer interface. Furthermore, BulletProof will have a review capability, much like Adobe Prelude CS6. BulletProof will allow you to check colour, quality and consistency. If it's anything like Prelude, you'll be able to set In/Out marks too. The new software will have colour correction capabilities and metadata editing functionality as well. Finally,, you'll be able to queue and deliver clips as transcoded project-ready media. Unclear at this time is whether Final Cut Pro X will be supported.

Sorenson Media partners with Sony Creative Software

Sorenson Media and Sony Creative Software have formed a new partnership to offer the Sorenson Squeeze video encoding software to video professionals through the Sony Online Store. With this offering, video professionals will benefit from combined workflow capabilities of Squeeze and Sony Vegas Pro, including access to Squeeze 8.5’s professional features.
